I start this article with a bit of reflection, Dave Jansen has been a member of Specialty Pistols since the beginning here and over that time we have discussed gear many times.
Some of the discussions have concerned custom or production gear and the value difference
in each purchase. Obviously we see the production gear as available to fill a need vs
custom gear filling a particular want.
For instance an off the shelf revolver vs a custom gun like a Freedom Arms or Bowen or
Clement. Most of us would much prefer the FA over the production gun and that is certain.
Now, like most of you my budget doesn’t always allow a Clement or a Bowen revolver, the
same goes for T/C barrels. I prefer On Target Technology barrels over the garden variety T/C barrels. Others?
Maybe another custom maker.
The forward above is based on the known first quality materials and precision construction
of the custom guns versus the production made ones in which you get what they produce.
Fitting “most” of us and certainly filling some needs, we forgive the details that are not
offered and overlook the obvious production construction.
Enter QuietHide, Dave now offers us true custom holsters made to fit our guns, whether we have an custom XP with a 16” barrel or a heavy Encore with a 10” 500 tube that would have no chance in another offering by an off the shelf holster maker.
Utilizing proprietary construction methods and top of the line materials he has combined
each with skill in his offerings to us.
I asked for and received a custom model for my custom big bore Encore’s that fit like a
glove, not easy to find something that would fit a true custom big bore pistol with a mid
mount scope and a huge barrel. Well, I sent Dave a tracing of MY pistol and he carefully
manufactured one with MY choice of materials to serve for years and years to come.

Dave is making something for YOU, not whoever might pull a holster off a peg while strolling an aisle at the local “mart”. Much the same as other true custom makers his first concern is following your needs and wants and custom features. For my pistol I requested an exterior mounted pouch to hold cartridges for follow-up shots in the field, since a 458 Win Mag or a 50 Alaskan isn’t come across in production guns, the production holster makers would have no such option.
No problem for QuietHide to add a pouch and think carefully on the placement so as to be available in the field without doing yoga or other exercises.

Comfort is paramount in carrying a pistol over a day hunt when it weighs several pounds and
the QuietHide design comes from Dave’s own experience’s.
We know that we tend to leave behind what serves limited purposes and bemoan not having it
later, comfort means having in hand when you need it versus leaving it in camp.
Having crawled over many a fallen tree while trying to balance my 458 and not drop it into a stream when hunting Elk I wished many times for a secure holster, now I have one.
And Dave can make more than just holsters for your Encore’s and MOA’s and such, he can make
you a custom 1911 or S&W holster too. Leather or synthetic materials are your choice with
QuietHide holsters and you can be assured of quality construction in your purchase.
I will be ordering another QuietHIde Holster soon for sure!
